What class is right for me?
This is one the most common questions when looking for a class. Ultimately each person has a different body so what feels good to one person may feel very different to another. We recommend trying out several different styles and instructors to find a class that feels good for your body. All classes consist of a warm-up, active practice, and a relaxation cool-down period.
Here are some general guidelines to help you make your decision on where to start. Yoga for Relaxation is best suited for those who are interested in relaxation, stress reduction, and gentle stretches. The Hatha and Hatha Flow classes also incorporate increasing strength and flexibility. The Vinyasa and Forrest yoga classes are geared to those who have an on-going yoga practice. Ultimately it comes down to personal preference.

If I have never done yoga before, what is the best place for me to start?
We have a four-week introduction course that we recommend for all individuals who have never tried yoga before. The class size is limited and consists of only beginners, so it may feel less intimidating. It is also a great way to start making yoga a habit. It is also a great idea to set up a private lesson with one of the instructors at the Beverly Yoga Center, prior to your first class.

What if I cannot attend the four-week intro course?
If you can't attend the intro class, there are still other options for getting started. You could come to one of our free community yoga classes or the Yoga for Relaxation or the Hatha or Hatha Flow classes. It is recommended that you let your instructor know that you have never done yoga before class begins. Other options include scheduling a meeting with an instructor or organizing a group of your friends who are also interested in getting started for a private intro class.
